PATTAYA, Thailand – City officials have confirmed that Phase 2 of the Jomtien Beach sand nourishment project is progressing as planned, with more than 30% of the work already completed.
During a progress meeting held on the afternoon of May 6, Pattaya Deputy Mayor Kritsana Boonsawat, along with relevant agencies, reviewed ongoing efforts to expand and restore the beach.
The project, a continuation of the first phase, aims to combat coastal erosion, widen the beachfront, and support Pattaya’s long-term tourism growth. Works include sand dredging, beach replenishment, landscape improvements, and overall coastal management. Officials said the development follows coastal engineering standards designed to strengthen shoreline stability, reduce wave impact, and extend the lifespan of the beach. The meeting also addressed potential challenges, including land use concerns and improving drainage systems to handle rainfall and prevent flooding along the beachfront.
City officials emphasized that the project budget is being carefully managed with transparency and efficiency, ensuring maximum public benefit while staying on schedule. Authorities have urged all involved agencies to continue accelerating progress while minimizing environmental and community impacts. The project is expected to be completed by February 2027.
