PATTAYA, Thailand – A wildfire broke out in a vacant grassland area along Thepprasit Soi 9 on May 2 at around 9:00 AM, rapidly spreading due to dry conditions and strong winds.

Initial reports suggest the fire may have been caused by human activity, possibly linked to individuals staying in the area, before quickly escalating into a larger blaze.

Firefighters from Pattaya, along with local officials and disaster response teams, rushed to the scene and deployed water trucks and equipment in an effort to contain the fire. A Pattaya City Council member from District 4 also joined the operation on-site.

However, efforts to control the blaze proved difficult as the fire spread across dry grass and dense vegetation in an area that is hard to access. Crews worked continuously under challenging conditions to prevent the flames from reaching nearby residential zones.

As of 4:00 PM, authorities reported that parts of the fire had been brought under control, but the situation was not yet fully resolved. Firefighters continued spraying water to contain remaining hotspots, with smoke still visible in several areas.

Officials have urged the public to report any suspicious activity or illegal burning in public areas to help prevent similar incidents and reduce risks to property and lives.

Emergency crews deploy water trucks and equipment to contain the blaze, battling difficult terrain and strong winds.

Smoke lingers over parts of Pattaya as officials continue efforts to control remaining hotspots and monitor the situation.
