Royal Thai Police, led by Trairong Phiwphan, are working with Meta to speed up removal of illegal gambling pages and online scams on Facebook, alongside a new “Digital Citizen 101” program to strengthen cyber safety awareness in schools.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Police have strengthened their partnership with Meta to accelerate the removal of illegal gambling pages and online scam networks on Facebook as part of broader efforts to combat cybercrime.

RTP Deputy Inspector General Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwphan has provided updates on its operations and announced that the next phase will implement stricter enforcement measures beyond blocking gambling-related pages.

He stated that authorities will expand operations to target scam-related pages and content associated with fraudulent networks, such as fake investment schemes and deceptive online job offers.

Police and Meta will use proactive search methods, analytical tools, and shared databases to identify suspicious activity more quickly and remove harmful content before it causes broader public harm.

According to Royal Thai Police data, from October 1, 2025, to April 27, 2026, Meta blocked 158,365 Facebook pages linked to online gambling. Officials noted that the compliance rate was high compared to other countries in the region, reflecting effective coordination and data sharing.

Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police, Facebook Thailand, and Meta Platforms have partnered with other agencies to develop the “Digital Citizen 101” curriculum, aimed at improving digital literacy and online safety awareness in Thailand.

The program will first target teachers and students at 437 pilot schools, helping them recognize online threats and use social media responsibly. The course is expected to become available to teachers and the general public in late June. (NNT)
