BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Government Spokesperson Lalida Periswiwatana announced the nationwide launch of the Thai Helps Thai initiative, set to kick off on May 1, 2026.
The project will set up discount retail points at all 878 district offices nationwide. This collaboration includes the Department of Business Development, the Department of Provincial Administration, and leading retailers such as Makro, Lotus’s, Big C, TOPS, and Go Wholesale.
Beginning May 1, citizens can purchase essential goods at discounted prices at their local district offices. Sales will take place every Friday in May (May 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29). This in-person initiative complements the project’s digital expansion, which already leverages platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, GrabMart, and LINE MAN to reach more consumers.
The second phase aims to support 2,000 Thai SMEs by integrating them into major online platforms. The government will offer a free shipping subsidy and distribute 500,000 discount coupons worth 100 THB each to consumers. In addition, private e-commerce partners will waive GP (Gross Profit) fees to ease costs for local entrepreneurs.
The deputy spokesperson highlighted that the project offers over 3,000 essential items, focusing on house brands from major retailers with price reductions of up to 58%. By combining local access with digital support for SMEs, the government aims to build a sustainable economic ecosystem that benefits consumers and small business owners nationwide.
