The Meteorological Department has warned of rising temperatures and unstable weather conditions affecting Pattaya and other parts of Thailand, with heat expected to intensify alongside incoming thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hail between April 28 and May 1.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department has warned that Thailand is experiencing rising temperatures alongside unstable weather conditions, with hot to very hot daytime conditions expected across upper regions, including Pattaya and surrounding areas.

On April 27, forecasters said a heat low-pressure system is covering upper Thailand, contributing to intensified daytime heat, while weakening winds are still allowing isolated thunderstorms and strong gusts in some areas.

Residents in Pattaya and nearby provinces are being advised to prepare for rapid weather changes, with risks of sudden thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in isolated locations. Authorities recommend avoiding prolonged outdoor activities during peak heat hours and staying alert for abrupt weather shifts.

A summer storm system is also forecast to affect Thailand from April 28 to May 1, bringing thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible isolated hail. The system is expected to first impact the northeast, north, and east before spreading toward central regions, including Bangkok and nearby tourist zones such as Pattaya.

Meteorologists explained that the weather pattern is driven by a high-pressure system from China moving toward the South China Sea, colliding with hot air masses over Thailand, creating unstable atmospheric conditions.

The public, especially in coastal tourism hubs like Pattaya, is urged to stay indoors during severe weather, avoid open areas, tall trees, and unstable structures, and remain cautious of lightning strikes and falling debris.

Farmers have also been advised to secure crops and livestock as hail and heavy rain may occur in affected areas.

Authorities added that air quality in some northern regions remains impacted by haze and dust accumulation, with residents encouraged to limit outdoor exposure and use protective masks when necessary.

Officials stressed that the combination of extreme heat and incoming storm activity could lead to rapidly changing and potentially hazardous weather conditions across the country in the coming days.
