PATTAYA, Thailand – Mayor Poramet Ngampichet has officially launched the “Pattaya Smart Health” project as part of the city’s efforts to modernize healthcare services and reduce overcrowding at hospitals.
The launch took place on April 22 at a community health center near Walking Street in Pattaya, with city executives, council members, public health volunteers and local officials attending.
Poramet said Pattaya is introducing more technology into its healthcare system to support the city’s rapid growth in tourism and the local economy, both of which have increased demand for medical services.
He said hospital overcrowding has become a growing concern, especially among elderly residents and people with chronic illnesses who often face difficulties accessing care.
Under the new project, Pattaya has developed a telemedicine system that allows residents to consult doctors online from home or from nearby service points.
Officials said the system is expected to reduce travel time, lower costs for patients and ease pressure on hospitals.
The city described Pattaya Smart Health as another step toward becoming a healthcare-focused smart city while improving equal access to medical services for local residents.
