BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has launched a four-day registration period for a relief program worth more than 2 billion baht to support the transport sector amid rising fuel costs.
The measure provides assistance to public buses, freight trucks, and for-hire vehicles, covering operations over a 42-day period from April 20 to May 31. Funds will be transferred via PromptPay after eligibility verification, with strict checks in place before disbursement.
Applications are open from April 16 to April 19 through the Department of Land Transport’s online system at https://tss.dlt.go.th/ or at transport offices nationwide. The online system operates 24 hours a day, while in-person applications follow standard office hours during the registration period.
Support varies by vehicle type. Public transport vehicles, including fixed- and non-fixed-route buses, are eligible for payments based on distance or flat rates. Freight trucks will receive assistance based on size and mileage, while taxis and motorcycle taxis are also included, subject to conditions such as minimum operating distances and GPS tracking requirements.
Applicants must hold valid vehicle registrations and licenses and meet operational requirements during the specified period. Compliance will be verified through GPS data, and false submissions or failure to meet conditions may result in disqualification or legal action. (NNT)
