Huge crowds fill Walking Street Pattaya during Songkran night, with tight security in place as tourists pack the iconic strip for water fights, music, and late-night celebrations.

PATTAYA, Thailand – The atmosphere along Walking Street Pattaya reached peak intensity on the night of April 13, as massive crowds of tourists packed the famous nightlife strip to celebrate Songkran in full swing.

By late evening, the area was densely filled with both Thai and international visitors, many armed with water guns and dressed for the occasion, turning the iconic street into a high-energy water festival zone. The mix of pounding music, neon lights, and non-stop activity carried on deep into the night.

Security was visibly tightened throughout the street, with police and officials stationed at key points to monitor crowd movement, maintain order, and ensure public safety amid the surge of revelers. Their presence helped manage the heavy foot traffic as tourists moved slowly through the packed street, joining in water play and soaking up the festive atmosphere.

The celebration extended beyond Walking Street, as nearby Bali Hai Pier also saw heavy congestion, with large numbers of travelers heading to and from nearby islands, including Koh Larn. The steady flow of island hoppers added to the overall sense of a city operating at full capacity during the holiday period.

The continued influx of visitors highlights Pattaya’s strong appeal during Songkran, particularly in nightlife zones where celebrations often stretch late into the night. Hot and humid conditions further pushed people outdoors after sunset, sustaining the momentum from daytime beach activities.

With Wan Lai celebrations set for April 18–19, even larger crowds are expected across Pattaya, as the city prepares for the peak of its extended Songkran festivities.
