Anutin orders faster travel facilitation and road safety drive for Songkran

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has directed agencies to speed up travel services and intensify the “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign during Songkran, alongside toll-free expressways and motorways to ease nationwide travel and reduce road accidents.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed all relevant agencies to accelerate travel facilitation for the public during the Songkran holiday, while promoting the “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign to improve road safety.

According to Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhanadirek, the prime minister has expressed concern for citizens traveling back to their hometowns during the festive period. The premier has directed all related agencies to provide full support and convenience, alongside strict safety measures to reduce road accidents.


As part of transportation measures, toll fees have been waived on several expressways. These include the Burapha Withi Expressway and the Kanchanaphisek Expressway (Bang Phli–Suksawat) through April 16, and the Udon Ratthaya, Si Rat, and Chalerm Maha Nakhon expressways from April 13 to 15.

In addition, key motorways will be toll-free for seven days, covering major routes such as M7 (Bangkok–Chonburi–Pattaya–Map Ta Phut), M9 (Bangkok Outer Ring Road), and M81 (Bang Yai–Kanchanaburi). (NNT)
