BANGKOK, Thailand – Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa has called for a more agile and hands-on approach within the ministry as he begins his tenure, urging officials to move quickly and engage more directly with on-the-ground challenges.
Varawut, arriving at the Ministry of Industry this morning (Apr 7), was received by Permanent Secretary Nattapol Rangsitpol and senior officials. As the 59th minister to hold the post, he follows in the footsteps of his father, former Prime Minister Banharn Silpa-archa, who previously served in the same ministry.
Minister Varawut said he is ready to take on the role amid current energy pressures, drawing on experience from his previous work in social development, including climate change and green industry, to guide his work at the ministry.
Varawut encouraged officials to adopt a more active approach, calling for faster responses, greater field engagement, and practical problem-solving, while welcoming staff input as the ministry prepares to align its work with the government’s upcoming policy direction. (NNT)
