BANGKOK, Thailand – The government has appointed a new committee to review fuel pricing, with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas serving as chair, according to an order published in the Royal Gazette.
The committee includes Energy Minister Akanat Promphan, Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun, and former Energy Minister Attapol Rerkpiboon. The panel is tasked with reviewing pricing structures across the fuel supply chain.
The unit’s responsibilities include examining refining margins, marketing margins, transportation and storage costs, and pricing mechanisms at refineries and for licensed fuel traders under existing law. The findings will be submitted to the Cabinet for consideration.
The committee has also been granted authority to request documents and information as needed and must submit its recommendations within 15 days of the order taking effect on March 31, 2026. (NNT)
