PATTAYA, Thailand – Passengers travelling between Pattaya and Koh Larn will soon face higher fares, as the Pattaya–Koh Larn passenger boat association confirmed an increase in ticket prices for scheduled ferry services.
The new fare will be set at 40 baht per person (one-way), up from the long-standing 30 baht rate that has remained unchanged for more than 16 years since 2010.
Operators said the adjustment is necessary to reflect current economic conditions and rising operational costs, including fuel, maintenance, and staffing expenses.
The revised pricing will apply to all passengers at a flat rate and will come into effect from April 10, coinciding with the busy Songkran travel period.
The fare increase had previously been announced about a week earlier but was temporarily halted following intervention by the Chonburi governor. However, operators now indicate that the adjustment will proceed as planned this time, describing it as unavoidable given sustained cost pressures.
Despite the increase, the ferry remains one of the most affordable transport options for visitors heading to Koh Larn, a popular island destination known for its beaches and day-trip tourism.
