PATTAYA, Thailand – City officials in Pattaya are accelerating efforts to address persistent flooding by upgrading drainage infrastructure along a key transport route.
Mayor Poramet Ngampichet recently inspected construction progress on the railway parallel road on the western side, inbound toward the Khao Talo intersection, an area known for recurring water accumulation during heavy rain.
As part of the improvements, authorities have ordered the elevation of 18 drainage covers to align with road levels. The upgrades involve raising the structures by approximately 80 centimetres to improve water flow, reduce flooding, and enhance safety for motorists.
The project is aimed at increasing drainage efficiency and preventing water from pooling on the roadway, which has long disrupted traffic and posed hazards, particularly during the rainy season.
City officials say progress will be closely monitored to ensure the work is completed as quickly as possible, with the goal of delivering a more reliable and safer travel experience for residents and road users.
