PATTAYA, Thailand – Mayor Poramet Ngampichet welcomed a delegation of representatives from related sectors during a meeting at City Hall on March 18 to discuss cooperation in developing the city through sports activities, particularly the fast-growing sport of padel.
The discussion focused on promoting sports, exercise, and sports tourism as part of efforts to enhance the city’s development. Special attention was given to padel, a rapidly growing sport worldwide that combines elements of tennis and squash. Played on an enclosed court, padel is easy to learn, highly interactive, and suitable for people of all ages and skill levels, while also helping create a lively social and community atmosphere.
Participants discussed supporting community and school sports programs, developing facilities for sports and recreational activities, and elevating padel competitions to the international level. The initiative also aims to strengthen sports tourism in Pattaya by attracting both Thai and international visitors.
Mayor Poramet expressed his readiness to fully support such cooperation, noting that expanding sports activities can help improve residents’ quality of life, encourage healthy lifestyles, and further position Pattaya as an international sports and tourism city.
