Sihasak Phuangketkeow speaks about ongoing efforts to locate three Thai crew members missing from the Mayuree Naree, as Thailand coordinates with authorities in Iran and Oman to accelerate search operations in regional waters.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Iran’s Foreign Minister has pledged to accelerating search efforts for three Thai crew members reported missing from on board the ‘Mayuree Naree’ vessel, Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said during a global anti-fraud summit in Vienna.

Of the ship’s crew, 20 have been rescued, while three remain missing as the vessel drifts between Omani and Iranian waters. Sihasak confirmed he held direct talks with his Iranian counterpart to coordinate assistance.

“I contacted the Iranian Foreign Minister to request help for the three crew members,” Sihasak said. “He expressed his regret over the incident, noting that the situation is unsuitable for navigation, but pledged that Iran would assist in the search.”

Thailand has also requested the Omani government and the Thai Navy to coordinate directly with the Iranian Navy to expedite the operation.

Regarding national energy security, Sihasak stated that Thailand maintains oil reserves for 95 to 100 days. However, due to high geopolitical uncertainty, the government has contacted several alternative suppliers, with relevant agencies set to finalize procurement details. (TNA)
