
PATTAYA, Thailand – Members of the My Bar Golf Society enjoyed two competitive rounds this week at Pleasant Valley and Eastern Star, with good scoring despite windy and unpredictable weather.
Tuesday’s game on March 10 saw 17 golfers gather over coffee before heading to Pleasant Valley Golf Course. Under bright blue skies and a firm breeze, conditions proved both pleasant and challenging. Despite the wind, several players managed to match or better their handicaps.
Nigel Irvine delivered the standout performance of the day with a consistent round that earned him victory on 39 Stableford points. The battle for runner-up was much closer, with Mike Malott and Robert Charbonneau both finishing on 37 points. As the pair had marked each other’s cards, the result was decided on countback, with Malott edging Charbonneau for second place.

Thursday’s round on March 12 took the group to Eastern Star for an early tee-off. Heavy rain and strong winds greeted players during the morning coffee, but by the time the group reached the course the skies had cleared and play was able to proceed.
Eleven determined golfers took on the softened course, and the weather gradually improved to produce an enjoyable day on the fairways. Scoring remained strong, with several players again matching or beating their handicaps.
Peter Chai Tsai produced the best round of the day, claiming victory with 38 Stableford points. Tony Oakes finished second with 36 points, narrowly beating Bob Edwards on countback. The wooden spoon went to Allan Cassin after he lost on countback to Willem Lasonder.
