Chakthip reviews national athletics team performance ahead of major Asian Games

BANGKOK, Thailand – Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda, president of the Athletics Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, has met with coaches and national team athletes to review recent performances and outline preparations for upcoming international competitions. The meeting was held at Thammasat University’s Rangsit Center in Pathum Thani province.

Pol. Gen. Chakthip led the session with senior association officials, including Pol Maj Gen Naphanwut Liamsanguan, the association’s vice president, and Anurak Sangeamjit, a board member and treasurer, as well as coaching staff and national athletes. Participants reviewed results from the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships held in Tianjin, China, in early February, as well as the Asian Athletics Cross Country Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.


The association also discussed training plans for upcoming competitions, including the 2026 Asian Beach Games in China and the 2026 Asian Games in Japan. During the meeting, Pol Gen Chakthip introduced Gentry Bradley as the new national coach responsible for short-distance track events, a role expected to strengthen the development of Thai sprinters.

Pol Gen Chakthip encouraged athletes to maintain discipline in training and work closely with coaches and association officials as preparations continue for major regional competitions. He also urged team members to maintain unity and safeguard their health as they represented Thailand on the international stage. (NNT)
