PATTAYA, Thailand – Officials in Pattaya have begun discussions with the Zendai Foundation on a proposed initiative to provide free transportation for residents traveling to medical appointments, aimed at reducing barriers to healthcare for vulnerable groups.
The meeting took place on March 10 at Pattaya City Hall, where Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet welcomed representatives from the Zendai Foundation led by project manager Chaianan Khongphueng. Also attending the meeting were Pattaya City Council member Supharerk Chompoonuch and Kanrapa Mukdasanit, Director of the city’s Public Health and Environment Department.
During the meeting, the foundation presented a proposal for a free shuttle service that would transport residents to hospitals or clinics for scheduled medical appointments. The project is expected to operate with financial support from the National Health Security Office (NHSO), with the goal of helping residents who face transportation difficulties reach medical care safely and conveniently.

Under the preliminary plan, the service would be available to Thai citizens who hold a national ID card and have household registration within Pattaya. Priority would be given to residents aged 60 and above, persons with disabilities, and individuals who face significant challenges traveling to their medical appointments.
Mayor Poramet said Pattaya is preparing for the transition toward an aging society and is therefore focusing on improving healthcare services and accessibility for residents, particularly seniors and people with mobility limitations. He added that the city is exploring ways to integrate public services through the Pattaya Connect digital platform, which aims to link various government services and make it easier for residents to access assistance quickly and efficiently.
City officials expressed interest in the proposal, noting that the initiative could strengthen Pattaya’s healthcare support system and ensure that more residents are able to receive medical treatment without transportation becoming a barrier.
