BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed Thailand’s readiness to host the 2026 IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings during a meeting with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on Thursday.

The meetings, scheduled for Oct. 12–18, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, will be held under the theme “Thailand New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience.”

Georgieva praised Thailand’s preparedness following a site inspection, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to host the event. She noted the meetings would serve as a platform for practical cooperation to address global economic volatility and rapid technological shifts.

During the talks, the two leaders also exchanged views on the conflict in the Middle East. Anutin reviewed the IMF’s assessment of potential spillover effects on the global economy and discussed strategies for Thailand to mitigate risks amid heightened global uncertainty.

The Prime Minister emphasized that hosting the event is a top national priority. He added that once the government formation process is fully finalized, the administration will accelerate coordination with the IMF and the private sector to tackle geopolitical crises and economic fluctuations.
