BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Army held a memorial ceremony on Veterans Day 2026 to honor soldiers who lost their lives while defending Thailand’s sovereignty during clashes along the Thai–Cambodian border, while also paying tribute to military veterans and personnel who have served the nation. The ceremony, presided over by Army Commander-in-Chief Gen Pana Claewplodtook, took place at the Royal Thai Army Headquarters.

Senior commanders, service members, families of fallen soldiers, and members of the public attended the event. The program opened with a commemorative exhibition presenting key military operations, including Operation Yutthabodin and Operation Satthawat, offering insight into missions carried out to protect national sovereignty.

A Buddhist merit-making ceremony was later held to dedicate merit to fallen veterans and deceased personnel, followed by a formal tribute at the Royal Thai Army Memorial Wall, where the names of fallen heroes were inscribed. The tribute included a bugle call and a gun salute as expressions of honor and remembrance.

The Army also held an appreciation ceremony for the families of fallen personnel, featuring a commemorative video honoring 46 soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence and the collective singing of tribute songs, closing in a solemn atmosphere of respect and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation. (NNT)
