Foreign military attachés visit Thai–Cambodian border area in Si Sa Ket

Foreign military attachés and Thai military officials inspect conditions along the Thai–Cambodian border in Si Sa Ket province, receiving security briefings and meeting residents in areas affected by recent clashes.

SI SA KET, Thailand – A delegation of foreign military attachés, along with Thai military officials, has conducted a field visit to the Si Sa Ket–Pha Mo I Daeng border area to review conditions along the Thai–Cambodian boundary. The visit took place in areas under the Surin Task Force’s responsibility in Kantharalak district, Si Sa Ket province.



The delegation received security briefings at Khao Phra Wihan National Park, including Pha Mo I Daeng and nearby access routes. Officials provided updates on the earlier fighting and the current ceasefire. Authorities also reported continued discoveries of landmines on the Thai side of the border, confirming that all devices recovered so far were newly laid.

The group then traveled to Ban Nong Mek in Sao Thong Chai subdistrict, an area affected by long-range weapons fire during the latest clashes. Members met with residents to hear their concerns, observe conditions on the ground, and review measures in place to protect civilians and security personnel.


According to damage assessments by Si Sa Ket province, the clashes resulted in two deaths, five injuries, and damage to 345 houses in Kantharalak district, with five homes completely destroyed. Public facilities were also affected, including a school, a subdistrict health-promoting hospital, and two temples.

District officials also briefed the delegation on relief efforts, confirming that government funding has been approved to support affected residents through housing repairs, property compensation, and livelihood assistance. (NNT)
