BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok has been ranked third on The New York Times list of “52 Places to Go in 2026,” highlighting the city’s progress in urban development, environmental improvement, and transportation systems.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Spokesperson Aekvarunyoo Amrapala said the recognition indicates growing international confidence in Bangkok’s direction. The New York Times described the city as a fast-paced metropolis moving toward a greener, more livable future, citing visible changes in public spaces and city planning.
The report cited expanded green areas, including the connection between Lumphini Park and Benjakitti Park via the Green Bridge, creating a continuous urban park corridor. Bangkok’s expanding cultural scene was also referenced, with new contemporary art venues strengthening its position as a creative destination.
Improvements in mobility and safety were another factor in the ranking, including AI-based traffic management, expanded electric bus services, and higher safety standards for motorcycle taxis. (NNT)
