BANGKOK, Thailand – Police General Kitrat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, chaired a meeting to prepare for New Year 2026 operations. He directed all units to strictly enforce crime prevention, maintain public order, uphold the law, and manage traffic. He also outlined three key measures to enhance public safety during the holiday season.
The first measure emphasizes security and public order. Police units will increase security in public areas, set up checkpoints, deploy rapid response and special operations teams, and intensify patrols on land, water, and air. Additional task forces will be assigned to high-risk and border areas, with increased patrols to protect residences, especially those in the police home-watch program.
The second measure focuses on traffic management and road safety. Police will manage traffic flow, ease traffic congestion, and strictly enforce measures to prevent accidents and reduce injuries and fatalities during peak travel periods.
The third measure involves command and operational control. All commanders must remain on duty in their areas throughout the New Year holiday to ensure close supervision and effective implementation of all measures.
The Royal Thai Police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, ensuring safe travel, and maintaining public confidence during the New Year 2026 festivities. (NNT)
