BANGKOK, Thailand – The Department of Livestock Development (DLD) has said it is continuing relief efforts for farmers affected by clashes along the Thailand–Cambodia border, following directives from Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Captain Thammanat Prompow. Assistance covers seven border provinces, where more than 200,000 livestock farmers and over 6.5 million animals are located.
According to the department’s Emergency Operations Center, the affected areas span 28 districts. As of mid-December, livestock losses totaled 171 animals, most of them cattle and buffalo.
Authorities have taken urgent measures to mitigate risk by evacuating 809 animals from high-risk areas. Veterinary teams have also provided care and support to nearly 16,000 animals and treated 949 injured or sick livestock, with field operations continuing.
Since the situation began, the department has supplied feed and essential materials to farmers, including more than 101,000 kilograms of dry roughage, nearly 22,000 kilograms of concentrated feed, pet food, and animal health kits containing medicines, vitamins, and mineral supplements.
Compensation will be provided under Ministry of Finance regulations, based on animal type, age, and household limits, to cover livestock losses and damaged pasture land. Affected farmers can report losses or request assistance through district or provincial livestock offices, the DLD 4.0 application, or provincial hotlines as relief and damage assessments continue.
