BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Armed Forces have set out five key principles guiding military operations along the Thai–Cambodian border, affirming that all operations must be lawful, proportionate, humane, transparent, and communicated through a unified channel. Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, confirmed that each service branch is operating in accordance with these principles and that the overall strategy remains on track.
The Army continues to face heavy attacks from Cambodian forces, including BM-21 rocket salvos, mortar fire, and kamikaze drones, particularly in the Chong Ahn Ma area and on Hill 667. The Navy is carrying out Operation “Trat Prap Porapak,” during which it has observed repeated drone activity targeting Thai positions. Both Army and Navy efforts are proceeding as planned despite challenging conditions.
Rear Admiral Surasant stated that the Royal Thai Air Force is actively supporting ground units to maintain forward momentum. He also reported that Thai forces have documented Cambodian troops placing weapons and firing positions in civilian areas—including private homes—which Thailand considers a violation of international humanitarian law.
Since the start of the conflict, Thailand has suffered nine military fatalities—one from the 1st Army Area and two from the 2nd Army Area—and over 120 wounded. On the civilian side, more than 199,000 people have taken shelter at 849 evacuation centers, while three civilians have died and 19 hospitals have been impacted.
Rear Admiral Surasant stressed the importance of maintaining morale and delivering accurate, coordinated information. All official updates are being released through the Joint Press Center. He also welcomed public messages of support, which may be submitted directly to the center for distribution to frontline personnel. (NNT)
