BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has expanded agricultural trade cooperation with Saudi Arabia after a high-level meeting with ARASCO, the kingdom’s leading food security enterprise.

Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthumpan led the Thai delegation in discussions with ARASCO executives, who confirmed an immediate additional order of 30,000 tons of Thai tapioca pellets following a successful trial shipment. Satisfied with product quality, the company plans to increase imports by another 100,000 tons in 2026.

Both sides also explored wider collaboration in agricultural and food products, including animal feed, processed foods, and halal-certified foods — all of which are in high demand in Saudi Arabia. The talks further touched on livestock development, agri-innovation, and new export opportunities for Thai producers across the Middle East. Saudi Arabia remains one of Thailand’s most important trade partners and a high-potential growth market for Thai agriculture and food exports.

The minister also visited Thai Food Village at the Saudi Feast Food Festival 2025 in Riyadh, where Thailand was honored as the country of distinction this year. The pavilion showcased Thai fruits, ready-to-eat products, and popular dishes widely embraced by Saudi consumers. The event marks a major opportunity to strengthen Thailand’s presence in the Middle Eastern food market.

Supajee met with Thai entrepreneurs attending the festival, listening to challenges and reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to supporting trade, import–export facilitation, and resolving regulatory obstacles. The Thai booth remained one of the festival’s major highlights, reflecting growing demand for Thai food products and strong prospects for future export expansion.

The delegation also held talks with Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Saudi Arabia’s influential Minister of Commerce, to discuss ways to deepen bilateral economic and trade cooperation. (TNA)
