TAT welcomes Air France flight AF156 as the new nonstop route expands European connectivity, targets high-value French travelers, and strengthens Phuket’s position as a premier winter destination.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with partners, has welcomed the arrival of Air France flight AF156—the first direct service from Paris to Phuket. The new route is expected to help boost air connectivity between Europe and southern Thailand, enhancing continued growth in long-haul tourism and supporting Thailand’s position as a leading destination for European travelers.

The nonstop Paris–Phuket route adds seat capacity and provides greater convenience for French tourists, expanding access to one of Thailand’s most popular resort destinations. The added connectivity is expected to attract more visitors seeking seamless travel to the South, especially during winter.

TAT is targeting high-value segments within the French market, particularly luxury travelers known for longer stays and higher spending. With an average visit of over 17 days, these tourists are drawn to Phuket’s premium offerings in wellness, spa, and yachting— sectors well aligned with market demand.

Tourism from Europe has grown by more than 12% this year, with several countries reaching all-time highs in visitor numbers. Arrivals from France alone are projected to reach 840,000, contributing significantly to the local economy and supporting the broader recovery of Thailand’s tourism industry.

Air France plans to operate the Paris–Phuket route throughout the winter and will join TAT in marketing campaigns to promote Thailand to a wider French audience. (NNT)
