Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presents the results of the 13-day “United Thailand Against Scammers” campaign, highlighting nationwide efforts to combat rising online crime, protect victims, and coordinate real-time enforcement through a central Anti-Online Scam War Room.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul led a press conference at the Royal Thai Police Headquarters today (Nov 10) to announce the results of the “United Thailand Against Scammers” campaign—a 13-day nationwide crackdown on cybercrime. The operation handled more than 7,000 cases and returned over 300 million baht to scam victims.

Assistant Commissioner-General Pol Lt Gen Jirabhop Bhuridej reported that online crime continues to rise sharply, with Thailand recording more than one million cybercrime cases over the past three years. In the last year alone, there were over 300,000 new cases, with estimated losses exceeding 20 billion baht—an average of 1,000 cases and 70 million baht in damages per day.

The government has elevated cybercrime suppression to a national priority, establishing a central committee chaired by the Prime Minister himself. A memorandum of understanding has been signed among 15 public and private agencies, including banks and telecom providers, to close enforcement gaps and disrupt criminal networks.

Addressing public concern about the potential involvement of officials, Anutin stressed that all allegations would be investigated thoroughly and without exception. He also urged the public to stay alert, report suspicious activity, and avoid falling victim to scams by following key precautions.

To support ongoing efforts, the Royal Thai Police has established a centralized Anti-Online Scam War Room for real-time coordination between agencies. Meanwhile, the Public Relations Department is expanding outreach through television, digital media, and village loudspeaker networks to keep the public informed and better equipped to guard against cyber fraud. (NNT)
