
BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has been briefed on the landmine incident that injured two Thai soldiers during a patrol in Sisaket’s Huai Ta Maria area, near the Cambodian border. According to government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat, the soldiers were transported for medical treatment following the explosion, which occurred during a routine security operation.
In response, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defence to file a formal protest with the Interim Observer Team (IOT) and to push for a full investigation. He also requested regular updates as the situation develops and called for a coordinated effort to ensure accountability.
Siripong added that Prime Minister Anutin has directed all relevant agencies to provide full medical support to the injured personnel and expressed concern for the well-being of all troops stationed along the border. He also extended encouragement to frontline forces and reiterated the importance of maintaining safety in the area.
The government is expected to continue monitoring the situation closely and maintain communication with military and diplomatic partners to address the incident. (NNT)
