BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is making an official visit to Malaysia on October 25 before attending the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings from October 26 to 28 in Kuala Lumpur. The visit, made at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, is set to advance bilateral cooperation and regional dialogue between the two neighboring countries.

This will be Prime Minister Anutin’s second overseas trip since taking office and his first engagement in a multilateral setting. The visit underscores the importance of Thailand’s partnership with Malaysia, built on shared interests in border connectivity, trade, investment, tourism, and community relations. The two leaders will also discuss measures to strengthen cooperation on transboundary issues and economic development in Thailand’s southern provinces.

The 47th ASEAN Summit, hosted under Malaysia’s chairmanship with the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability,” will gather regional leaders to discuss security, economic, and social challenges across Southeast Asia. Timor-Leste will participate for the first time as a full ASEAN member, signaling an expanded regional framework for collaboration.

During the summit, Anutin will promote four priorities, including regional peace and stability, strengthened security and resilience, equitable economic growth, and progress toward sustainability.

While in Kuala Lumpur, Anutin will also hold bilateral discussions with fellow ASEAN leaders and key dialogue partners, including the United States, China, Japan, and India. These meetings are expected to enhance Thailand’s regional presence and expand collaboration through both bilateral and multilateral channels. (NNT)
