Authorities plan to cut travel costs for Thai citizens while maintaining fiscal discipline, with committees coordinating efforts to ensure maximum public benefit.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul revealed discussions with Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn regarding measures to reduce travel expenses for the public without jeopardizing fiscal discipline.

Anutin said the government is studying a fair and practical approach to ease commuting costs, emphasizing that assisting citizens remains a top priority for any administration.


Phiphat added that a committee is being set up to oversee the plan, ensuring all relevant agencies, including the Transport Ministry, coordinate to maximize benefits for the public. The exact rate of travel cost reduction is still under discussion.

He also noted that a committee has been investigating the subsidence on Samsen Road in front of Vachira Hospital since October 3 and urged patience as the issue is complex. (TNA)
