PHANG NGA, Thailand – Similan Islands National Park in Phang Nga Province has launched the “Save Similan” campaign to prepare for the reopening of the tourism season on October 15, 2025, under the theme “Happy, Safe, and Eco-Friendly Travel.” More than 400 participants, including residents and tourism operators, joined the activity to help ensure that the islands are ready to welcome visitors once again.

The campaign follows the policy of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Suchart Chomklin, who promotes eco-tourism in harmony with sustainable environmental management. The initiative aims to enhance tourism standards while preserving the beauty and balance of the natural ecosystem.

Key activities included educational sessions on marine buoys, a “Return Hermit Crabs to Their Homes” event, and the release of green sea turtle hatchlings into the Andaman Sea, encouraging community participation in marine conservation. These efforts reflect the royal initiatives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, who advocates for collective action to restore Thailand’s marine ecosystems.

The Chief of Similan Islands National Park stated that the park is now fully prepared for the new season, ensuring safety and natural resource integrity. He expressed appreciation to the Phang Nga Naval Base, the Third Naval Area Command, and all agencies and participants for their support in making the campaign a success. (NNT)
