BANGKOK, Thailand – Social Development and Human Security Minister Akkhara Prompow has launched the “MSDHS Near You” initiative, highlighting four urgent policies designed to ease household burdens, create jobs, and strengthen social support systems for vulnerable groups.
The policies was announced by the Minister at the Department of Social Development and Welfare in Bangkok, with MSDHS Permanent Secretary Kantapong Rangsesawang, executives, department heads, and officials nationwide attending in person and online.
Akkhara stressed that the ministry would adopt a people-centered, target-oriented approach. Policies will focus on reducing household expenses, generating local income opportunities, managing debt through a newly established MSDHS Restart Center, and upgrading standards for social workers and volunteers.
One of its key policies, the Restart Center, will serve as a hub for debt restructuring and counseling, offering Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to help families recover financially without being overwhelmed by paperwork. At the same time, vulnerable households will benefit from programs to cut essential costs and create jobs that fit their circumstances, enabling them to stay closer to home while caring for family members.
Akkhara emphasized that the ministry’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable, pledging to ensure that welfare rights and state services reach people directly. The approach would be “people-centered and target-oriented,” relying on close collaboration across government agencies, the private sector, civil society, and communities.
The Minister said that these policies aimed to address challenges such as household debt, multi-generational care burdens, women in need of secure employment, and people with disabilities facing high living costs. He declared that their mission is to ensure that vulnerable families can truly regain stability by reducing expenses, creating income, and moving forward with a sustainable future. (NNT)
