BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited Ayutthaya province on Saturday (Sept 27) to monitor flooding and review relief operations. He was accompanied by Surasak Phancharoenworakul, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, along with Cabinet members, the provincial governor, and local agencies.
Ayutthaya, a low-lying province that serves as a natural basin for the upper Chao Phraya River, has faced three flood events this year, the most recent of which began on August 20. Anutin stressed that while floods cannot always be avoided, effective management and swift response can reduce damage and hardship.
Authorities were instructed to expedite assistance by evacuating residents at risk, providing food, water, and essential supplies, establishing safe shelters, and conducting damage surveys promptly to ensure that compensation and rehabilitation reach victims without delay.
The Prime Minister also ordered officials to report and resolve any procedural barriers that could slow down support, adding that the government is prepared to back local agencies to ensure help is delivered fully and on time.
Anutin concluded his visit by urging care for frontline workers, expressing gratitude for their efforts to ease hardship and restore stability for communities throughout the province. (NNT)
