PATTAYA, Thailand – As Typhoon “Ragasa” continues to influence weather patterns across the region, Pattaya has begun to experience overcast conditions, signaling the onset of heavier rains expected in the coming days.
Throughout Monday morning and afternoon, skies above Pattaya were covered in thick clouds with occasional light showers. Local residents and businesses along the beachfront reported noticeably stronger winds and cooler temperatures, a shift from the generally clear skies of recent weeks.
According to the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD), the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand is strengthening under the influence of Ragasa, currently moving westward across the South China Sea. This weather system is forecast to bring widespread rainfall to many parts of Thailand, including the Eastern region where Chonburi province is located.
Officials warn that between September 23 and 26, Pattaya and neighboring areas may experience periods of heavy rain, particularly in low-lying zones prone to flooding. Beachfront businesses and small boat operators have been urged to exercise caution, as rough seas are also expected, with waves in the upper Gulf potentially rising above 2 meters during thunderstorms.
For now, Pattaya residents are watching the skies closely. While the rain has not yet arrived in full force, the shift to cloudy weather is seen as the first sign of a wetter and stormier week ahead.
