Officials report normal conditions along the Thai-Cambodian border with positive developments from General Border Committee talks, ongoing security measures against illegal entry, and plans to ensure accurate international communication and fair compensation for conflict-affected communities.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Officials of the Ad Hoc Centre for Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation have reported that the situation along the Thai-Cambodian border is normal, with positive signs of progress emerging from the ongoing General Border Committee (GBC) talks in Malaysia.

Spokesperson for Security Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri stated that secretariat-level officials from both sides have reached several agreements. He noted, however, a surge in drone detections despite a nationwide ban, but clarified that agricultural drones will be exempted within a specific timeframe after August 15th to facilitate farming. Rear Admiral Surasant also confirmed that the recent Chong Ahn Ma incident has been discussed by both sides without any violence occurring. Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police continue to make arrests for illegal entry, with individuals facing either deportation or legal consequences based on investigations into potential national security threats.

On the diplomatic front, Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs Maratee Nalita Andamo recapped the recent visit by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to Cambodian detainees, emphasizing that the inspection was a Thai government initiative. She also announced a planned online meeting tomorrow with Thai ambassadors to coordinate the dissemination of accurate information about the border situation to the international community.

Also at the press conference, Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Wattanachan stated that the administration is determined to provide comprehensive compensation to all those affected by the conflict, in a manner that upholds the dignity of those who have sacrificed for the nation. (NNT)
