PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya’s Floating Market has been buzzing with activity during the recent long holiday from July 26 to 28, marking the birthday celebrations of His Majesty King Rama X. The market, one of Pattaya’s top tourist attractions, welcomed a lively mix of Thai and international visitors eager to enjoy cultural performances, boat rides, and traditional Thai experiences.

Interestingly, the number of Indian tourists visiting the floating market has now surpassed that of Chinese visitors, signaling a shift in the city’s tourist demographics. Alongside Indian travelers, tourists from Europe and other parts of Asia are also noticeably increasing.

Local vendors and tourism officials report that Indian visitors tend to stay longer and engage more actively in shopping and dining, contributing significantly to local spending. While Chinese tourists have traditionally been a major economic force, the rise of Indian tourists brings a new wave of spending power to the market, especially in handicrafts, food, and cultural souvenirs.

During the long weekend, Pattaya as a whole remained vibrant and bustling. Many Thai families from Bangkok and nearby provinces visited the market, enjoying cultural shows and photo opportunities in traditional Thai costumes. The city’s seaside charm, combined with well-organized events, continues to attract diverse visitors.

Though Pattaya’s economy still faces challenges from slowdowns in some tourist segments, the increasing presence of Indian, European, Middle Eastern, and Russian visitors shows promise. With a strategic focus on quality tourism over quantity, Pattaya is poised for a brighter economic future, supported by government policies and local business readiness.
