Thai Police monitor influencers inciting violence against Cambodians; two men with cameras detained in Surin

Pol. Lt. Gen. Achayon urges all units to closely monitor social media influencers spreading false content that could incite violence against Cambodians, emphasizing the need to maintain peace amid ongoing border tensions.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Pol. Lt. Gen. Achayon Kraithong, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, announced that police stations nationwide have been ordered to intensify investigations targeting influencers spreading false content on social media to incite conflict against Cambodians, on July 26. Some influencers have reportedly encouraged violence, which is a criminal offense. Authorities are also monitoring fraudulent pages soliciting donations under false pretenses.



Following recent border clashes in Trat province, Police Region 2 has coordinated with military units to assess risks and evacuate civilians to safe shelters. No casualties have been reported so far.

Border checkpoint operations in Chanthaburi and Trat provinces are now under military control with scheduled opening hours to facilitate orderly cross-border travel.


Separately, two men in Kab Cheong district, Surin province, were detained for carrying cameras and are under investigation for security violations; authorities plan to revoke their stay permits and deport them pending further inquiry.

Two border patrol police officers in Sisaket province were injured during operations. The Police Chief plans to visit the border areas to inspect and encourage the officers. (TNA)
