
PARIS – Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa met U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer on the sidelines of the
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Ministerial Council Meeting in Paris. He emphasized Thailand’s strong intention to initiate trade negotiations as soon as possible.
Maris noted that U.S. Ambassador to Thailand Robert F. Godec had already discussed the potential for virtual meetings. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Phichai Chunhavachira will lead the Thai negotiation team and is prepared to start online discussions immediately.
The U.S. side confirmed readiness to begin talks at a mutually agreed time. Maris pledged to coordinate the schedule quickly via the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok. (NNT)
