PATTAYA, Thailand – While much of Thailand braces for torrential downpours and flash flood warnings, Pattaya continues to enjoy rare clear skies that are attracting both local and international tourists around the clock—even on weekdays.
Despite the Thai Meteorological Department’s alert for widespread heavy rain across Bangkok, the North, Northeast, Central Plains, East, and Southern Andaman coast—with threats of flash floods, landslides, and overflowing rivers—Pattaya has remained largely dry. This makes it a rare bright spot amid the country’s current stormy outlook.
Tourists in Pattaya are seizing the opportunity. Beaches are busy with sunseekers during the day, while nightlife venues buzz well into the night. Hotels and beach clubs report strong weekday bookings, with visitors praising the weather and clear coastal views as “unexpected but perfect.”
Meanwhile, authorities urge caution nationwide. The weather agency warns that intense rainfall could lead to short-term flooding, especially in low-lying and mountainous regions. Travelers heading to other parts of Thailand are advised to avoid storm-prone areas and prepare for travel disruptions. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea are also advised to stay ashore due to high waves reaching over two meters in stormy areas.
Pattaya’s unusually dry conditions may not last, but for now, it offers a sunny escape in contrast to the storm clouds looming over much of the country.
