PATTAYA, Thailand – Visitors to Pattaya are enjoying the city’s warm weather and clear coastal skies with sunbathing sessions and island-hopping trips to popular nearby spots like Koh Larn and Koh Phai. With calm seas and light breezes, the conditions have been ideal for boat tours, beach lounging, and snorkeling excursions.
However, the Thai Meteorological Department has issued a nationwide alert for heavy rain in some areas. Thunderstorms are expected in 60% of Bangkok and its vicinity, with isolated downpours also likely in the North, Northeast, Central, East, and West Coast of the South. Residents and tourists alike are advised to remain cautious, especially in low-lying or hillside areas prone to runoff and flash flooding.
Though seas are generally calm — with wave heights around 1 meter in the Andaman Sea and under 1 meter in the Gulf of Thailand — areas with thunderstorm activity could see waves over 2 meters. Boaters and ferry operators are advised to stay alert and avoid navigating during storms.
As the weather shifts, Pattaya continues to offer a great escape, balancing sunshine with safety — a reminder to pack sunscreen and an umbrella just in case.
