Deputy PM Phichai Chunhavajira confirms electricity rate reduction for Sept–Dec 2025, with a cap set at 3.99 baht/unit to ease consumer burden without using national budget funds.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Phichai Chunhavajira announced after the first 2025 meeting of the National Energy Policy Committee that the electricity rate for the September–December billing cycle will be reduced from 4.15 baht to 3.99 baht per unit. The government is confident the rate will remain unchanged through the end of the year unless there is a significant change in energy production costs. This adjustment will not require funds from the national budget.

The meeting also acknowledged the plan to purchase additional electricity generated from renewable sources, particularly those with no fuel costs or derived from industrial waste. This move is in line with the 2023–2030 national plan to expand clean energy production, especially in sectors not yet been implemented.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Peeraphan Saleerathaviphak confirmed on his personal Facebook page that the committee has set a price ceiling for electricity at 3.99 baht per unit, unless there is a significant increase in fuel prices.
