Residents in Nakhon Si Thammarat urged to stay alert for aftershocks following a 3.0-magnitude quake in Chawang District.

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Thailand – Provincial disaster prevention officials have issued a warning for residents to remain alert for possible aftershocks following a magnitude 3.0 inland earthquake early morning on May 7 in Sai Ra Subdistrict, Chawang District.

The earthquake, which occurred at 5:31 a.m., was felt by local residents. Nearby subdistricts such as Kaphiat, Mai Rian, and Huai Prik also reported hearing loud noises. In response, staff at a local hospital evacuated buildings as a precaution. Authorities are currently assessing the extent of any damage.



A news team visiting Moo 4 in Sai Ra reported that rubber plantations and fruit orchards in the area did not sustain any visible damage. CCTV footage from Chawang Crown Prince Hospital confirmed a noticeable tremor lasting about two seconds. Some staff members reported feeling dizzy during the event, but initial inspections indicate no structural damage to the hospital.
