BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is advancing its soft power through the international promotion of fermented foods rich in probiotics, such as Thai Khao Mark or ข้าวหมากไทย, aiming to highlight their health benefits and cultural value. The initiative, part of the “Thai Power Probiotics & Flavor of Thai Food Health Wellness” project, seeks to turn traditional Thai cuisine into a sustainable global asset.



Anukool Pruksanusak, Deputy Government Spokesperson, explained that Thai fermented foods are deeply rooted in local wisdom and cultural identity. Beyond their distinctive flavor, these foods are recognized for contributing to gut and mental health. With the growing popularity of functional foods worldwide, Thailand is positioning its culinary heritage as a key driver of Gastronomy & Wellness Tourism.
