BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat has affirmed that the government’s 10,000-baht digital wallet program for citizens aged 16 to 20 is proceeding according to plan. The Ministry of Finance is currently gathering internal feedback and expects to submit proposals for phases three and four of the scheme to the Cabinet within one to two weeks.

According to Julapun, the campaign remains scheduled for rollout by the end of the second quarter of 2025. Although the final number of eligible recipients is pending Cabinet approval, it is expected to remain under 3 million people. The digital funds will be distributed through a secure platform, as initially outlined.

The deputy finance minister also confirmed that phase four is set to move forward in September 2025. Budget allocations have already been secured to support implementation, and no changes to the design or timeline are anticipated. Once technical preparations and security systems are complete, the disbursement process will begin.

The government views the digital wallet as a tool to stimulate economic activity and support young people through targeted financial support. The scheme is intended to increase spending at the local level while encouraging the adoption of digital financial services.

Officials are finalizing preparations to ensure the system operates smoothly and with transparency. Following Cabinet approval, the process will proceed as planned without further adjustments. (NNT)
