The Redemptorist Vocational School for Persons with Disabilities is seeking to become a full-fledged vocational college offering degree programs.

At the Pattaya school’s annual meeting June 16, Director Udomchok Churut said management is applying to the Education Ministry to be allowed to offer vocational and high-vocational degrees.

Board member and Pattaya City Councilman Rattanachai Sutidechanai is spearheading the initiative, which now is obtaining building-use permits to become a vocational college.

School Secretary Narong Rattanasopa told the board meeting that the Redemptorist School had an enrollment of 214 students in the last term, all but one of which completed the year.

Its graduate program had enrollment of 33 people, 25 of whom completed the program. Of these, all have obtained employment, he said.

The Redemptorist School also ran a special training program for 14 students from four provinces in the deep south.

Father Ray President Michael Picharn Jaiseri said the school has a full slate of events in the coming months, starting with the just-completed “wai khru” ceremony to pay respect to teachers at the start of the new term.

June 25 will see the 28th Redemptorist Games sports day with the annual Father Raymond Brennan remembrance event scheduled for August.
