On the occasion of Bangkok’s ‘Sister City Week’ at Siam Paragon, with Lausanne as one of the participating partner cities, Alumni President Robert Jaermann (seated 5th left), GM of the Dream Hotel, welcomed more than 40 Alumni of Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and VIP guests to the AEHL Stamm Dinner at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. Notable guests included the Honorary Alumni President, Khwankeo Vajarodaya (seated center), Grand Chamberlain of the Royal Palace and Honorary Professor of the EHL, H. E. Christine Schraner Burgener (6th right seated), Ambassador of Switzerland to Thailand and Lysandre C. Seraidaris, Honorary Head of Mission of the City of Lausanne, and a delegation of the Lausanne Hotel Management School. The event was hosted by Philippe Caretti, VP of Operations for Kempinski Hotels in China and Sophie Bourquin, Hotel Manager of the Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok; both of them also alumni of the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne.


Onyx Hospitality Group, in co-operation with Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Department of Education recently organized an Award Presentation Ceremony at Amari Watergate Bangkok to award a total of 12 scholarships worth 40,000 baht to students from primary and secondary schools in Bangkok who have won the ‘Arts for The Planet’ painting competition. (L to R) Associate Professor Nawin Biadklang, Faculty of Painting Sculpture and Graphic Arts, Silpakorn University; Orasa Rassamee - Specialist, Department of Education Bangkok Metropolitan Administration; Tosaporn Damrongrat - Head of the Supervisory Unit, Department of Education Bangkok Metropolitan Administration; Chaipat Charoenporn - Deputy Director-General of Department of Education Bangkok Metropolitan Administration; Duncan Webb - Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, Onyx Hospitality Group; Masvimol Rakbankird, Deputy Director-General of Department of Education Bangkok Metropolitan Administration; Lisa Thomas, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility for Onyx Hospitality Group, and Montha Raitim, Supervisor of Department of Education Bangkok Metropolitan Administration cut the official ribbon.


Pullman Pattaya Aisawan recently held its monthly ‘White Thriller’ night beach party at The Beach Club to coincide with the upcoming Halloween holiday. Guests were entertained by new face, talented French DJ, Anthony Dugas, and enjoyed posing for photographs during the evening’s event. Celebrities joining the party included (from left) Ning-Kamala Kamphu na Ayutthaya, Philippe Delaloye, GM of Pullman Pattaya Aisawan, Pornwipa Siriboon and Lena Christensen.


Marriott Resorts & Spas Bangkok, Hua Hin and Pattaya, honorably received distinguished awards of excellence during TAT’s 8th Thailand Tourism Awards 2010. Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa was presented the Award of Excellence for city hotel tourist accommodation (Bangkok); Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa was presented the Award of Excellence for the same category, but in the Eastern Region; and Hua Hin Marriott Resort & Spa was presented the Award of Excellence for resort hotel with at least 80 rooms: Western Region. The event was presided over by H.E. Chumpol Silapa-archa, Minister of Tourism and Sports. Graeme Moore recently celebrated his 70th birthday with his 2 sons James and David together with his close friends at the Mantra Restaurant & Bar. All had a great time celebrating the remarkable year of this remarkable man.


 

Craig J. Ryan (7th left back row), general manager led the Holiday Inn Pattaya team to celebrate and mark the hotel’s 1st anniversary. During this special occasion, the team began with a Buddhism ceremony, offering food and necessities to the monks, and followed with community service by cleaning the beach in front of the hotel. It has been a successful first year for Holiday Inn Pattaya and the team is looking forward to many more years of prosperity.
