National police officials tell Chonburi Immigration to focus on foreign fugitives, drug dealers

Boonlua Chatree

National police officials have ordered Chonburi Immigration Police to focus on outstanding warrants and foreign drug dealers in Pattaya.

Col. Chusak Phanas-amporn, police superintendent at the Jomtien Beach-based Chonburi Immigration Department, said Royal Thai Police officials want enforcement stepped up in Pattaya due to its large foreign tourist and retiree community. Among the concerns are foreigners who overstay visas or operate illegal businesses.

Officers have been urged to execute outstanding foreign warrants, capturing fugitives and shipping them home for prosecution. Orders were also issued to step up patrols of entertainment areas to root out foreign drug dealers.

Police officials also reminded their immigration counterparts to rid Pattaya of illegal Cambodian and Burmese workers.
