On Saturday October 1, the Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) held its
annual “Holiday” Bazaar at the Royal Cliff Hotel and Resort. The day started
very early for some, with vendors arriving from 6 a.m. to set up for the big
day. Big thanks to Royal Cliff staff who were on hand to help unload goods.
The Bazaar was officially opened at 10 a.m. with current PILC president, Bea
Grunwell together with past presidents, Celia Waters, Anja Schoof-Hertroys &
Roseanne Diamente and Panga Vathanakul (managing director of the Royal Cliff
Hotels Group) doing the honours and cutting the ribbon.
Bea Grunwell then gave a short speech thanking everyone concerned for their
continuing support and attendance, particularly PILC’s major sponsors, SCG
Dow Group, Foster Wheeler, Transpo, Bechtel and Solvay Peroxythai, without
whose fantastic donations, PILC would not be able to give so generously to
its Welfare Projects. She also thanked the Royal Cliff Hotel Group for once
again hosting this event and then led the ladies on a tour of the vendors’
tables.
The day was a huge success, there being 43 vendors plus 15 tables set up by
PILC’s welfare recipients and PILC themselves. A varied array of products
were on sale, with anything ranging from Xmas cards to carpets, cakes to
swimwear, beautiful jewelry to handcrafted goods and electrical goods to
used books.
The Rotary Club “Fairy” (Dave) was on hand once again enticing people to buy
raffle tickets. On her own, the “Fairy” managed to sell 14,000 baht worth of
tickets. Thanks to “her” once again. The raffle prizes donated by many local
businesses plus the vendors at the Bazaar resulted in a total of 77,000 baht
being raised. Overall PILC raised 150,000 baht which will go towards their
welfare projects in 2012. Big thanks to everyone who helped with a special
thanks to Jasmine and Summer, two lovely young girls who were promoting
Tarot Card Reading and some rather lovely transfer tattoos.
Bangkok Pattaya Hospital was also on hand again this year to provide free
eye checks; and the Royal Cliff Hotel had an area set up with staff on hand
for delicious sandwiches, noodle soup and coffee.
The president has received many messages from vendors and attendees alike,
stating that this surely was one of the “best” bazaars ever. The quality of
goods on sale was superb and very elegant this year.
PILC would like to announce their next function which will be “Starry
Nights”, a dinner-dance to be held on November 19th at the Pullman Aisawan
Hotel in Soi 18 Naklua. Please watch out for the announcements. All proceeds
from this event will also go to their welfare projects.
