Loaded and locked, the convoy is ready to
make its way to the border.
Patcharapol Panrak
HRH Princess Soamsawalee dipped into her private
funds to pay for 5,000 bags of relief supplies for Thais affected by the
violent border dispute with Cambodia.
Personal secretary Somthawin Yangyoo oversaw the
loading of the bags at a Royal Thai Navy hanger at U-Tapao-Pattaya
International Airport Feb. 15. The three Sattahip-based trucks will
deliver the goods to the 23rd Ranger Forces unit in Kantharalak, Sisaket
Province.
Hundreds of residents along the border near the
disputed Preah Vihear Temple have fled their homes as forces have
exchanged sporadic gun and artillery fire since Feb. 4.
HRH the Princess was said to be very concerned about
residents near the clashes as many have had their homes damaged or
destroyed.
Goods in the bags were donated by HRH the Princess,
Thai Red Cross, Sattahip municipal workers and members of the Tai Chi
Club of Sattahip.
